Q What shall I wear?
The type of clothing you wear will depend on the activity that you will be doing.  Most activities require loose, comfortable clothing that will not restrict movement and will allow the skin to breathe.  It is advisable to wear layers of clothing so that you can take clothes off or depending on how you are feeling.
If you are doing an activity that requires trainers remember to bring a pair of indoor shoes that have a non slip sole and plenty of cushioning.  This is a mind and body studio and the correct footwear will avoid dirt on the floor for the next class.
Yoga, Pilates, ViPR, Kettlercise and Barre are all done barefoot, to get the most out of the workout.  If you prefer you can wear non slip Pilates socks or a barefoot trainer.

Q What do I need to bring with me?
It is advisable to bring a drink of water and small towel.  For Yoga and Pilates classes we do recommend you bring your own mat.  Although we do have mats available for use if you're not ready to invest in your own yet.

Q What is the minimum age to attend classes?
To attend the classes you have to be at least 14 (with the exception of Pound & Barre and then its 7) but unfortunately you will not be able to take advantage of free use of the Sunhealth gym until you are 16.

Q Do I have to be a member to attend the classes?
No you can pay £5 per class if you prefer or £10 for a workshop.

Q What is a workshop?
The classes on our timetable are all designed to flow and the fitness professionals don't always have the time to break down the moves as much as they would like - so the solution is workshops.
Each workshop will be run by a fitness professional that specialises in the particular discipline of the workshop.  Each workshop will run for 90 minutes.  The first 30 - 45 minutes will be spent explaining the history of the training and focusing on getting the basic techniques/movement/connections right.  It will then end with a full class putting into practice what you have learnt.
Workshops are great for complete beginners or the more experienced exerciser who wants to perfect their technique.

Q How do I book for a class?

If you arrive late for a class you may not be allowed to join in.

For many people, exercising in a group increases motivation and adds enjoyment to a fitness programme.  Having a regular pace and time to work out can also benefit those of us who have trouble fitting exercise into a busy schedule.  If you are new to the world of fitness classes, the array and choices may be overwhelming.  If you don't know how to decide on the right exercise class for you, consider the following points:

Q What are the fitness professionals qualifications and training?
All of our team are qualified in all the disciplines they coach (and many more).  They are all members of REPs - Register of Exercise Professionals. Fitness professionals should be willing to share their training, experience and credentials with you.  A properly trained fitness professional can help you adapt the exercises and adapt exercises to your own fitness level and medical needs, thereby decreasing your chance of developing or aggravating an injury.

Q How busy is the class?
Some popular classes will fill the week before (pre booking is available).  Other studios may allow unlimited participants in cramped facilities.  We make sure the class size doesn't produce a stressful and hectic environment.

Q How does the fitness professional interact with participants?
A good instructor encourages the attainment of personal goals and discourages a competitive atmosphere within the class.  Our fitness professionals will be able to suggest modifications of the routines to accommodate beginners, more advanced exercises and those with special physical challenges.  Our team will also be open and welcoming to all participants.

Q Finally, is the class fun?
Do you look forwarding to going?  An exercise class should, above all, be enjoyable and invigorating. If the thought of attending the class fills you with dread, you're probably not going to stick with it.  Our aim is to ensure every member leaves the studio With a positive experience feeling happy and stress free.
